You want to carry
Concealed weapon license and firearms training
Florida no longer requires a license to carry concealed. The law you have to live by did not change, and the license still buys you reciprocity in other states. Come for the part that matters, which is knowing what you are allowed to do.

Courses
Three licensing paths. Know which one you are on.
Firearms and security training in Florida is governed by different authorities depending on what you are licensed to do. Shoot Safe is certified under all three.
These are courses. The licenses themselves are issued by the state on your application. What you receive here is the training certificate that application requires, signed by an instructor whose credentials are on it.

National Rifle Association
Concealed carry and firearms training
Taught under NRA instructor certification. Florida accepts an NRA course as proof of competency on a concealed weapon license application, provided the certificate shows the instructor’s credentials. Yours will.
Florida Concealed Weapon License Course
Meets the training requirement for a Florida concealed weapon license, and covers what you should have been told before you started carrying: weapon safety, the laws that apply, reciprocity with other states, restrictions, and use of force.

The standard
We do not cut corners or abbreviate the curriculum.
Unlike so many other security schools often do.
Shoot Safe will not just get you through a course. We cover every topic and add the real situations you will have to relate to, along with the knowledge you need to protect yourself, to safeguard the licenses your employment depends on, and to protect your employer.
Scott sits on the state council that advises Florida on this industry. He knows what happens to the people and the companies who do not follow the rules.
Chapter 493, Florida Statutes
You are just as responsible for meeting the training requirements as the school that delivers them. If a school cuts the hours, it is your license that is exposed, not only theirs.

certified instructor
Scott R. Mozer
Owner and senior firearms instructor
Scott has been professionally involved with firearms since becoming a law enforcement officer at twenty one. In addition to certifying as a National Rifle Association firearms instructor, he has certified in a long list of law enforcement subjects, including at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, the Northwestern Traffic Safety Institute, the Institute of Police Technology and Management, and the Virginia Commonwealth University Law Enforcement Program.
He worked undercover, so he can tell you from experience what carrying concealed every day actually costs you, at a time when his life depended on doing it properly. He also understands open carry, and the considerations security officers have to deal with that most people never think about.
His passion for passing on what he knows is only surpassed by his interest in keeping other people safe.

For organizations
Worship Safe.
A safety program staffed by your own people, trained to the standard Florida holds its security officers to.
The usual answer is to hire an outside agency. The problem with that answer is that contracted officers rotate between sites. They do not know your building, they do not know your congregation, and they do not know who belongs there on a Tuesday evening.
Worship Safe does the opposite. We evaluate and carefully select people from among your own volunteers, then train them to run your program in house. Where it is appropriate, that training can take them through the same courses and the same state licensing that Florida security officers hold. Continuing education keeps them current.
We can also carry out a safety audit of your property and recommend practical changes that protect the building, and more importantly the people inside it.

Questions
Before you book.
Shoot Safe exists to make you a better and better informed gun handler. Safety first, then proficiency.
Do I still need a license to carry concealed in Florida?+
No. Since July 2023 Florida has not required a license to carry a concealed weapon, provided you meet the eligibility criteria in the statute. Plenty of people still want the license, because it gives you reciprocity when you travel to other states and it exempts you from the three day waiting period on a handgun purchase. The more important point is this: removing the permit removed the gatekeeper, it did not remove the law. Use of force, prohibited places and the consequences of getting it wrong all still apply to you whether or not you ever apply for a license.
How long is the concealed weapon course?+
Generally about four hours, depending on how the group does demonstrating competency with a firearm. Florida does not set a minimum class length for this one, so be careful with anyone advertising a twenty minute version. What the state actually checks is your certificate and who signed it.
What do I need to work as a security officer in Florida?+
A Class D license. That requires forty hours of training and a minimum score of 75 percent on each examination. If the role is armed, you also need a Class G Statewide Firearm License, which is a further twenty eight hours of classroom and range training delivered by a licensed Class K firearms instructor.
How often do I have to requalify my Class G?+
Every twelve months. This is the one that catches people out. The Class G license runs on a two year term, but the four hour requalification has to be completed inside each twelve month period of that term, not once every two years. If you let the window pass, you cannot lawfully carry on duty until you requalify.
Where are classes held?+
Classes run in the New Smyrna Beach and Clewiston areas, and the location for each session is confirmed with you when you register. Group programs such as ALICE and Worship Safe are delivered at your own site.
Can you train my staff or congregation on site?+
Yes. ALICE active threat training and the Worship Safe program are both built for groups and delivered at your location. Attendance is limited only by the size of the space you can provide. Pricing depends on the number of attendees, so call and we will scope it with you.
How do I pay?+
Zelle or Cash App. If neither works for you, call 386-416-8977 and you can register for a class over the phone.
I have a question that is not answered here.+
Call 386-416-8977 and ask. Questions about concealed weapons and about the FDACS Class D and Class G courses are covered in detail during those sessions, but you are welcome to ask anything before you book.
